Alerts
Alerts help you monitor the conditions that matter without watching every chart. Choose a fixed price, a saved drawing or a supported indicator, then define how and when it should trigger.
Price alerts
Price alerts are best for a specific, fixed level such as a breakout price, stop-loss level or target.
- Open the bell icon in the chart toolbar.
- Keep the Price tab selected.
- Choose a condition: price above/below, or crosses above/below.
- Enter the target price and select which candle price should be evaluated.
- Set behaviour, then select Create alert.
| Condition | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Price above / below | Notify whenever the selected price is on the requested side of a level, subject to cooldown and rearm rules. |
| Crosses above / below | Use for a transition through a level, such as a breakout or breakdown. |
Drawing and study alerts
Use a study alert when the relevant level can move. This is the preferred option for trendlines, channels, Fibonacci objects and supported indicators.
Create an alert from a drawing
- Create and save the drawing on the chart.
- Right-click the drawing and choose Create study alert.
- gStockly opens the Study / Indicator alert tab with that drawing already selected.
- Choose the appropriate condition and create the alert.
Because the alert is linked to the saved study, it follows the drawing if you move or edit it later.
Delivery and alert behaviour
Alert settings let you control how often the same condition can notify you and when it should expire.
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Cooldown | Minimum time before the same alert may trigger again. |
| Expiry | Date or duration after which the alert stops running. |
| On candle close only | Evaluate using the last persisted candle instead of the live quote proxy. |
| Require reset | After triggering, wait for the condition to become false before allowing another trigger. |
| Stop after | Disable the alert after a chosen number of triggers. Useful for one-time reminders. |
| Active days | Limit evaluation to selected weekdays. |
Delivery channels are configured in the Alerts panel. Select the channels available to your account and save the delivery settings.
Manage alerts
Use the Manage Alert tab to review active, triggered or paused alerts. Keep the list useful by using descriptive notes, reasonable expiry dates and one-time limits for trade-plan levels that no longer matter after triggering.
Using alerts with the Trade Planner
The Trade Planner includes Alert stop and Alert target. These open the price alert form with the relevant level and a useful note already filled in. Review the condition and delivery options before creating the alert.
